Resources for Resume Rewrites

In today’s tight job market, I get a lot of people asking about resume rewrites. Before the downturn, most product managers didn’t need to get their resume written to be found, it used to be a technicality. Now it matters.

Full Disclosure: I am an advocate of paying to get your resume rewritten.

I also get asked about how often to re-write your resume. I am on the fence about how impactful it is to re-write your resume for every application. The work required, even with the tools I will share below, is pretty time consuming. I would suggest you test it out. I typically have three tiers of jobs:

  • I want

  • I would like

  • I need insurance

For those I want, I will consider re-writing my resume. But since I haven’t found it helps much, I don’t do it often.

With that said, here are some resources grouped based on reviewed vs unreviewed.

Reviewed

  • JobScan.co - In this day of AI tools, it is more manual, but I still find it to be the best option

  • QuickCover - early in the AI game, but iterating all the time. Trys to help you write your resume

  • ChatCareer - Didn’t love but AI improves quickly.

  • ResumeAI - Like it more for prep than writing your resume but it might help junior candidates more.
