How does Facebook differ from Google?

If you are preparing for both Google and Facebook, you will notice subtle differences that are related to the culture of the different companies. Facebook is more focused on execution and has some specific requirements (like prioritization and goal setting). While Google is more focused on strategy, thinking big, and technical aptitude. The two product case question types share a lot but the ways they diverge reflect a lot about their different product cultures.

How does the phone screen differ from the onsite?

The Facebook PM onsite has two 45-minute parts. In one interview you are focused on product sense, the other you are focused on execution. The phone screens are just as tough as the onsites. But for the onsite, they add behaviors that focus on experiences that range from product retros to deep dives into your failures.

The intensity of the back-to-back interviews makes the onsite tough. But most folks struggle because they are so focused on the case-style questions that they fail to practice enough for the behavioral questions.
