Understand How You Learn

Working with a large number of candidates, I have seen a lot of different patterns of learning. This is why I provide a number of different types of learning materials:

  • blog articles

  • full course materials

  • recordings of bad examples with feedback

  • recordings of good examples

  • drills all key parts of a case

I have seen the following different learning preferences when it comes to PM interview prep. Knowing how you learn will help you figure out which of my materials will be most helpful for you:

  1. Watching people provide near-perfect answers helps me find the patterns and teach myself

  2. Seeing others make mistakes helps me see the mistakes I make.

  3. I need to hear both perfect and imperfect responses to learn.

  4. I mix reading and practice.

  5. Reading doesn’t help but practice is everything.

  6. I prefer listening and practicing to reading.

Practice with Other Humans is Key

Few, if any, can just study alone for these product case questions or even the behaviorals. PMing is a very interactive profession, we need to see how people react to our answers to get better.
