  5. What are some successful milestones that you have recently hit?

  6. When was the last time you (or the company) used one of the company values to make a hard decision?

  7. What was the value? What was the situation? What was the decision?

  8. What are 2-3 examples of decisions you expect the person in this role to make autonomously?

  9. What is an example of a decision you expect the person in this role to get input from you (or hiring manager) on?

  10. What is an example of a decision that you (or manager) would make and expect this person to execute?

  11. How is this team organized?

  12. Where does it sit in the broader picture of the company?

  13. Have there been significant changes to this team's structure in the past year? If so, what were the goals of the change?

  14. Who else has been in this role that has progressed into other roles? What were the roles they progressed into?

  15. What capabilities did they show that made you confident they were ready for the next level?

  16. For people who have not done well in this role, what was their biggest challenge?

  17. What is the biggest risk you would be taking by taking me on?
