7 Strategic Questions To Prepare Ahead of Time

When preparing for Google, or any other company, you often need to show that you are passionate enough about the company to think about what they are doing well and what they should do in the future.

To that end, you should be prepared to ask the following questions. If not interviewing for Google, replace “Google” with the company you are preparing for and the prompts are still relevant.

  1. Pick a Google Product. Good, Bad, Ugly, and the Future.

  2. M&A: You have 5 minutes with Sundar what should Google acquire.

  3. What should Google deprecate? Prepare for both minor and major products.

  4. What is the biggest threat to Google?

  5. What is the biggest opportunity for Google.

  6. What should the 5-Year Roadmap for Google be?

  7. How is Google doing right now?

What you get from this exercise is a forcing function to learn about the company and formulate a strategic opinion about the company’s strengths and weaknesses.

Softball Questions

While these questions can seem overwhelming, any interviewer who asks you these kinds of questions is throwing you a softball. Anyone can prepare for these kinds of questions. And if you really want to work for the company, you should be ready to answer these questions without breaking a sweat.
