These are some of my favorite quesitons for hiring manager or skip-level I might interview with.

Let’s Dive In

  1. Biggest Challenge

    • In most cases, this should be covered in the introduction, but if you don’t have a sense of the big challenge, make sure you ask about it.

  2. Experimentation Culture

    • This gives a good sense of two key factors (1) metrics-driven culture and (2) ship vs. test culture

  3. Team Configuration

    1. Where do I fit in? Are there any red flags.

    2. In one case, I found out, accidentally, that the role reports to CPO, which made the role even more attractive. (It had been changed without warning).

  4. Product/Feature that Failed

    1. Shows you are thinking about the product an can let you know if the team is honest about failures.

  5. Weaknesses

    1. Will you add to the team and is there diversity

  6. Exec Access

    1. Will I get executive access? Or is this a gross down-leveling for me?
