ChatGPT for Resume Updates

TL;DR - I am very disappointed in what ChatGPT 4.0 came up with for me after I uploaded a PDF of my resume and shared a job description. It was all common sense stuff I already knew. The most practical results came from asking for specific bullet points, but even then it was only a slight rewording. I will need to do a lot of self-reflection or play with prompt wording to get more of what I really need.

I followed advice here from Jobscan.co. It seems to be one of the better set of instructions I have seen for using ChatGPT to write your resume. I got particularly excited about the advice on how to add a new accomplishment based on both what you have recently done and the job description.

I got slightly more helpful and practical advice when I asked for bullet points, but only marginally helpful. Better than doing it alone but not yet worth the $20 per month I paid to upgrade.
