6 Tests of Execution or Analytics Questions

The analytics or execution questions, think heavy on metrics, tradeoffs and prioritization prompts, are looking to test your ability to measure your product and make metrics-driven or data-driven decisions. These questions can come in several formats: behavioral, hypothetical and case style questions.

Regardless of question/prompt format, the goal (or test) for the interviewer is to predict how you will think about the day-to-day of managing and launching products. These questions are more common, and more important, in cultures that are heavily focused on execution.

  • Successfully moving business metrics by optimizing for product metrics.

  • Running experiments, driving decisions.

  • Choosing KPI's and rallying others around them.

  • Coming up with a new product idea or strategy after analyzing current product usage.

  • Collaborating with engineers to collect product metrics.

  • Are you comfortable with metrics and have you managed products in a data-driven way?
