day 19

type | product sense clarifying questions

Pick three prompts from your favorite question bank (here is one of mine). Ask three clarifying questions OR state three clarifying assumptions.

why | picking a style

There are two schools of thought around clarifying questions for product sense questions. Some, like to ask clarifying assumptions. Some like to take complete control and state assumptions and just move forward with it. Either way, you are showing comfort with ambiguity.

hint | don’t ask for answers

Too many people follow the advice out there from big platforms that recommend asking questions like: " Who are we building for? OR What is our budget? Remember, the interviewer is testing your comfort with ambiguity.

try them out | to find a fit

I prefer to set the stage by saying I will pick, just want to check. But many people out there prefer to start but just listing their assumptions, and driving forward.

The risk with clearly stating all your assumptions upfront without taking a moment to gather your thoughts is that you might dig yourself a hole. To find the balance you need to practice.
