Confusing Prompts: Problem vs Solution Identification
If you have one of those prompts that starts with: Come up with some business ideas the interviewer is not necessarily asking you to dive into the standard Design Framework.
They might just be looking for what they asked: What might be some high-level areas where we could solve problems?
Step 1: If you aren’t sure, start by asking a clarifying to get on the same page. (See sample questions to ask below.)
Step 2: If they just want high-level ideas that show you understand the key insights around the value of the tech, just list the problems that can be solved with this tech in terms of business ideas.
Possible Clarifying Questions:
There are two ways I can approach this prompt. Would you prefer I just list some solutions/ideas at a high level, or would you prefer me to start with the user and drive to a deeper set of solutions?
When you say business ideas, are you looking for possible different product approaches, for example something in healthcare vs retail?
