Marketing Framework

When you get a strategy questions about Go To Market or a Marketing Plan, one simple framework to leverage is the three types of media: Earned, Owned and Paid. In the age of social media, earned and owned are more powerful than ever.  This only works if the prompt is fairly specific to marketing and you don’t think you need to address other issues like pricing models or channels. 

  1. Earned (free) - Someone else does it for you for free: Public Relations, Influencers

  2. Owned (free) - Surfaces you own: Website, App, Blog 

  3. Paid (paid) - ads
