I was asked the other day, how many options do I need for the different sections of the product sense/product design case.

While there can always be reasons to vary things, I typically advice 3-5-3:

• Three (3) User Segments or Jobs to be Done

• Five (5) Pain Points

• Three (3) Solutions

Why?

It gives you enough to prioritze quickly without being overwhelming.

Now, in some cases they may ask for more pain points, so be ready to come up with more. But do a pre-prioritization exercise before any prioritization ranking for pain points or you will run out of time.
